Perfect Steamed Rice (No Rice Cooker) Ingredients 1 cup long grain rice 2 cups water Pinch of salt (optional) Instructions Place the rice in a sieve and rinse under cold water until the water runs mostly clear. Add the rice and 2 cups of water to a saucepan. Add a small pinch of salt if desired. Bring the pan to a gentle boil. Cooking Once boiling, reduce heat to low. Cover the pan with a lid. Simmer for 10–12 minutes until the water is absorbed. Resting Turn off the heat and leave the lid on for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving. Notes Do not stir the rice while cooking. Keeping the lid on traps steam and cooks the rice evenly. Works best with long grain or basmati rice. Serve with dishes like Sweet and Sour Chicken.
